Morningside Mica is a proudly local and family-owned store with true family values that have been passed down from generation to generation. This store had its roots in 1934, when the grandfather of the founding member registered a Motor Trading company which later morphed into a hardware store started by Mr Harris and is now run by his three sons – the Harris brothers – Mike, Anthony and Tim for the last 30 years! 

Mike was the first brother to join the hardware store. He started working on weekends and after university to help his father in the store. Anthony soon joined the store and brought with him his strong engineering background. The youngest brother Tim joined and implemented the store’s first computer point of sale system with his computer and technological skills.

Morningside Mica then became a Mica store in 1984, making them one of the first Mica members in Johannesburg! They are among the original Mica stores that grew the much-loved franchise. Together the three brothers and family bring with them over 30 years of hardware and retail experience which they have passed on to staff – many of them long standing members – a testament to the family atmosphere of the store. They are considered as the “little big store”. It may look small on the outside but wait until you enter! We have so much to offer!

Well-trained staff are happy to assist you with your DIY needs as soon as you enter! Our hands on approach to customers has allowed us to build long lasting relationships and over the years have had the privilege of servicing future generations.

Morningside Mica offers various departments from key cutting, garden, pool, paint tinting and paint mixing to our builders yard of cement, bricks, sand, lintels and so much more. We are happy to cut and size timber to suit your projects.

Morningside Mica also offer a convenient delivery service for your goods as well as, gas swapping and refilling. When you visit Morningside Mica, we don’t doubt that you will find what you are looking for!

Our store highly values our staff and community. We’re open 7 days a week, however operating until 13:00 on a Saturday or 12:00 on a Sunday. This allows all staff to spend time with their families, which we believe is very important.
